The Unseen- Broken Bonds (Part 1)

“It is said that the present is pregnant with the future.”

  • Voltaire

“Ben,” Voltaire whispered as his smile grew larger. “Keep it down.”

Voltaire hurried down the stairs and was pulled into a hug. The two men embraced, before Ben helped Voltaire into the car. Kelly drove out of the alley and merged into traffic while Ben opened up her laptop.

“What are you doing here?” Voltaire asked “does this mean you are back?”

“Voltaire,” Ben said “this means that I am leaving.”

“What do you mean?”

“I am leaving my life here behind to have the life that I have always dreamed about.”

“What?” Voltaire said numbly. “Don’t say you’re leaving me.”

“I am leaving.”

“Stop saying that.”

“It is true.”

“I… I’m going to miss you.”

“I’ll miss you too.”

“Then stay here or take me with you.”

“I can’t,” Ben said “I am sorry. I have to go alone.”

“Why are you even here?” Voltaire asked turning away from Ben.

“I am here to help you one last time.” Ben said “give me the worm drive and I will take a look at the security tapes. You’ll need a pair of eyes to watch the videos.”

“Whatever,” Voltaire said as he ripped the container from his throat and out of his mouth. He pulled so hard that one of his wisdom teeth was ripped out in the process. Voltaire politely handed Ben the container, the floss, and the blood covered tooth. Voltaire turned away from Ben and wished he was completely invisible and not wearing his dumb ghost suit. Ben took the container and did not remark on the tooth as he took out the device with the stolen data and put it into the computer.
